Voice-over and narration
Clear spoken recordings for video, e-learning and corporate explainers — with prompter, table-side direction and exports that drop straight into your edit.

Voice-over needs more than a quiet booth: pacing, articulation and consistency across dozens of takes. At Miekpixel on Wibautstraat our dub setup pairs an iso booth with a director’s table where script, prompter and engineer meet.
This service targets spoken content, not sung performances — those run through vocal and spoken-word recording with different mic choices and artistic coaching. For voice-over we often deliver same-day raw selects or a first assembly, depending on script length.
How it works
- 01
Script
You send the locked script, pronunciation notes and picture or storyboard. We estimate read time and price from word count.
- 02
Setup
Prompter speed, microphone (shotgun or broadcast dynamic) and headphone mix are tuned to your voice and target platform.
- 03
Record
We capture in short blocks with clear file names per paragraph. Direction covers intonation, pauses and awkward names.
- 04
Export
You receive WAV per take or one assembled version, plus timecode notes when your edit needs them.
Typical uses
We regularly record voice-over for explainer videos, internal training, app walkthroughs, museum audio and podcast intros. E-learning with multiple modules needs the same tone across sessions — so we book series slots and store prompter settings and mic positions in our session archive.
Spots under thirty seconds often fit the short-project rate; longer documentaries or audiobook samples are quoted per hour or as a project. Tell us the end medium (YouTube, LMS, cinema) so we align loudness and format.
How this differs from vocal sessions
Vocal and spoken-word recording focuses on music, rap and artistic performance with comping and headphone reverb. Voice-over and narration prioritise intelligibility, steady levels and tight sync to picture. We often use a shotgun or broadcast mic at a fixed distance, a prompter and minimal processing on the way in.
Character work with heavy acting can overlap — discuss upfront so we book the right room and engineer. Straight corporate or instructional content stays under Voice-over and narration.
Preparing your script
Send text in an editable document (Google Docs, Word, plain text), not a PDF-only file unless layout is fixed. Mark numbers, abbreviations and unusual words with phonetic hints. State which variants you need: long vs short version, call-to-action at the end, alternate closing line.
For multilingual projects: note per language who supplies the voice. We only record languages you book with us; script translation is outside our scope. The first studio day checklist helps voice-over clients with practical prep too.
Prompter and direction
Our prompter runs at your reading speed; during the session the engineer adjusts scroll if you drift ahead or behind. Direction is practical: where to emphasise, when to breathe, how to read a URL aloud. No dramaturgy unless you ask for storytelling delivery.
You may direct yourself while the engineer handles levels and file structure. For larger teams we limit people in the control room so the speaker stays focused — mention this when booking.
Session day
Budget about one studio hour including setup for a two- to three-minute script. Longer modules are planned in blocks with short breaks — a tired voice sounds audibly tighter and less natural. Drink water; avoid heavy meals right before the session and very cold drinks immediately before speaking.
Minimum age 16 to book independently; younger speakers are welcome with written consent from a parent or guardian and an adult present. Opening hours: Mon–Fri 10–19, Sat 11–17.
Delivery and formats
Default export: 24-bit WAV, 48 kHz, mono or stereo depending on your edit. We can deliver per paragraph (para_03_take_02.wav) or one assembled track. On request: broadcast WAV with basic metadata, or MP3 reference for quick client review — lossless remains the source.
Sync to picture: send timecode or a rough cut; we list start points per section in a simple sheet. Final mix of music under voice falls under mixing, unless you only need level normalisation within the voice files themselves.
Rates and packages
The hourly rate €88 suits flexible work or scripts that may grow during the session. Short project €260 covers up to thirty minutes of finished audio after edit — ideal for a single explainer or three short spots. Four similar episodes bundle as series €840.
Prices include 21% VAT. Businesses with a VAT number see €72.73 excl. VAT on the invoice. Evening or weekend slots outside Monday to Friday 10:00–19:00, Saturday 11:00–17:00, closed Sunday. may carry a surcharge — agreed upfront. 35% deposit on confirmation; see terms for cancellation within 4 days.
Revisions and pickups
Small misreads or a wrong number are fixed in 2 pickup rounds within fourteen days of delivery, as long as the script unchanged. New paragraphs or a different tone count as extra recording time. Keep our raw takes until your edit is locked — alt takes are cheaper than a full re-session later.
Archive: we keep session files for 14 months, then delete unless you extend storage.
Location
The dub setup is at Wibautstraat 224, 1097 DN Amsterdam (Amsterdam Oost). Wibautstraat 224 is in Amsterdam Oost. Metro stations Wibautstraat (M52/M53) and Amstel are within walking distance. Trams 1 and 7 run along Wibautstraat; get off at Wibautstraat stop. Bike racks are in front of the entrance; on-street car parking is limited. If you travel by public transport, allow a little extra time for check-in and script alignment.
Remote recording is not a standard service — prompter quality and sync are most stable on site. Questions: 020 261 4783 or [email protected]. Other services: services overview and guides.

FAQ
Do I need to know the script by heart?
No. The prompter is standard. Rehearsing still helps natural delivery; read the script aloud at least once at home.
Can I bring my own voice talent?
Yes. You supply the speaker; we supply room, recording and technical support. Mention experience and language in your inquiry.
How fast do I get files?
Short projects often same business day for raw takes; assembled version within one to two business days. Rush may be possible depending on the calendar — ask about availability.
Do you record in Dutch only?
We record any language the speaker performs fluently. We do not fix accent or grammar; direction focuses on delivery and clarity.
What if the script changes during the session?
Small word tweaks are normal. Major rewrites extend the session and may fall outside the project rate — we switch to hourly or a new quote.
